The Elim Society Mission
The charitable purposes of the Society is to provide financial support for our various programs and ensure the society's sustainability through fund raising activities for the Elim Society for Senior Citizen’s Care in recognition that the exercise of Christian mercy is a communal responsibility. The Scriptures call believers to show love and charity towards all, particularly those of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10). Early in the history of the Christian church, the apostles appointed deacons to look after the needs of the widows and others in their company and accepted donations to a communal purse to look after their needs (Acts 6: 1-4). As well, Christians are called to be resourceful stewards of the monies God has entrusted to them (1 Peter 4:10; Prov 3:9 and others)
The Elim Society provides services and resources to our residents through community partnership with local Churches, neighborhood outreach and local advocacy. The Foundation financially supports the programs and mission of Elim Society for Senior Citizen's Care
Seniors are at the core of our mission:
We believe that our Seniors have a right to live and thrive in Christian Community
We enable our residents to continue living independently in their homes
We promote their health and wellness
We provide opportunities for our residents to enhance their quality of life while respecting their independence and uniqueness
When it comes to aging well, we believe seniors need:
To be able to count on a stable, safe home in which to live
A community of friends with shared interests
Access to support, services and programming that help them sustain active lifestyles
Supporting seniors matters
In Alberta, the number of people 65 and older is expected to double by 2040, becoming over 50% of the province's population. Life expectancies are now greater than ever. Seniors of today and the future wish, and deserve, to sustain their independence and their choices about where and how to live. They also seek to sustain the purpose that comes from contributing to and connecting with others. All of these components are essential for people to flourish at any age. By providing the appropriate resources and support, we can make this possible.
The Elim Society centers its work on engaging with the Christian Community in Lethbridge, sustaining resident independence, housing stability and purpose in a focused and effective way. Its responsibility for our residents’ lives and in connecting them with local resources complements this commitment.
